Every so often, we hear a pool story that reminds us just how human pool ownership can be.
A customer called ProPools, frustrated.
“My pump won’t start,” he said.
“Is it humming, clicking, or completely silent?” we asked.
“None of the above. It’s… stubborn.”
Naturally.
He explained that the pump worked perfectly yesterday. No leaks. No noise. No drama. Today? Nothing. He flipped the switch multiple times. He stared at it. He even threatened to replace it.
Still nothing.
Finally, while walking us through his setup, he mentioned one small detail:
“I unplugged it last night to rearrange the patio furniture.”
Mystery solved.
After plugging it back in, the pump fired up instantly—smooth, quiet, and completely unapologetic.
“So it wasn’t broken?”
“No,” we said. “It was just on strike for being unplugged.”
Moral of the Story
Before replacing a perfectly good pool pump, always check:
1. The breaker
2. The timer
3. The outlet
Pool equipment is reliable, but it does expect electricity. It's the simplest things which we take most for granted and often think are done, actually aren't done. Always double check everything.... even the simplest, most mundane things.
