Your investment into an in-ground pool means you have invested into your family’s overall well-being, and there is no better way to protect your investment and your family than through the purchase of a certified-safe safety cover. Protecting your pool and family are what safety covers are designed to do, meeting all existing ASTM regulations (ASTM F 1346-91). These covers do more than simply protect your pool -- they keep the pool cleaner by blocking debris from entering the pool during winter months, allowing for a much easier pool opening come spring. Each safety cover is designed to fit your pool, no matter the shape or size!

Should I buy a certified-safe safety cover, or stick with the traditional water bag cover?

Below you will see an unsafe traditional water bag cover and a certified-safe safety cover.

What sets certified-safe safety covers above traditional water bag covers is that certified-safe safety covers are anchored to the deck by means of high compression springs and straps, and the high density polyester bonded thread that each cover is comprised of provides a safe platform for any person or animal who may hap hazardously walk out onto the cover. If someone were to fall into the pool while utilizing a traditional water bag cover the person may become enveloped in the cover and drown.

What types of safety covers are available?

There are two different types of Safety Covers—Mesh and Solid safety covers. Both Mesh and Solid safety covers have their advantages and disadvantages.

MESH COVER BENEFITS:
  •  Mesh covers are characteristically lightweight, allowing for an easy installation and removal by one person.
  • The mesh material allows rainwater and snow melt to pass right through the mesh, so there is no need for a cover pump.
  • Mesh safety covers typically cost less than solid safety covers.
  • No cover pump also means that your mesh safety cover requires no maintenance throughout the year.
MESH COVER DISADVANTAGES:
  •  Some mesh covers allow sunlight through the material promoting algae growth in the warm spring weather.
    • Solution: A higher density or tighter weave mesh cover will block more sunlight.
SOLID COVER BENEFITS:
  •  The foremost benefit of solid safety covers is that they block 100% of sunlight, rainwater, and snowmelt.
SOLID COVER DISADVANTAGES:
  •  Solid safety covers with no drain panel require a cover pump--
  • Solid Safety covers weigh more and can be troublesome and nearly impossible to take on and off by one person.

So why purchase a safety cover?
Homeowners purchase safety covers because they want security when it comes to their pool. Safety covers give peace of mind to every homeowner because they prevent all access to the pool from young children and pets. Both Mesh and Solid safety covers are strong enough to hold the weight of a child if they wandered onto the cover, in addition to two adults to walk out on the cover for rescue.

What is included in my pool safety cover?
Each pool safety cover comes with the following:

WHAT CERTIFIED-SAFE LOOKS LIKE

The force of the tree falling onto this cover was well beyond what the ASTM standards, yet this cover withstood that "Fall Force" factor and is still holding the tree.

The red box notes where the base is and the blue line is the height of the tree laying down, estimated at over 50 feet tall. The force of the tree coming down on that cover must have been immense, but this certified-safe safety cover did what it's supposed to do............TAKE IT!
