The inside bottom of each panel is marked to show where you should bring the bottom up to. When concrete blocks and/or shims are used, be sure to trim them back prior to putting down the bottom. Be certain that they do not protrude into the bottom material too much. Steel wall panels are also marked to show where the bottom should be brought up to.

As shown in an earlier image, a string should be run to identify the top of the pool bottom material. Be sure the bottom is graded to the strings.

Before putting down the bottom material be sure to cover the main drain with duct tape. Once the bottom is finished remove the tape as in the next image.

After the duct tape is removed and top of the main drain is clean, use a light amount of silicone to secure the main drain gasket to the top of the main drain.

When applying the pool bottom material we set strings to make sure we have the correct finished height. Deep End Walls are done first, then the hopper, then the transition walls on the slope, then the slope. The slope we will usually divide up into three or four long sections as shown in the picture. This makes getting the job done much easier, faster and more accurate.

The slope is just about done now. Just a little more pool krete and then we're off to finish the shallow end of the pool.

The pool bottom is complete. We let that set for a day, then walk inside the pool with only socks on and sweep out any dirt, debris, leaves, twigs, etc. before we drop the liner.

The shallow end is just about done now. Just a few more passes with the trowel and it's done.

It is always best to do the pool bottom in good clean angles with sharp definitions to slope/elevation change.
