Solar Bear Solar Pool Heaters are great Do-It-Yourself installation solar pool heaters utilizing the existing pool water flow from above ground pools with a 3/4 HP pump or larger.

Here's How it Works:

The swimming pool pump sends filter water through the Solar Bear solar panel(s). It transfers the sun's FREE heat tot he water circulating through the channels inside and returns warm water to your above-ground swimming pool.

Swimming pool solar pool heaters will raise the temperature of your pool water by up to 10 F (6 C). or more. It is a lightweight, durable and easy to install solar pool heater. Water simply flows through the Solar Bear's many tubes via your existing above ground pool pump where it is heated by the sun and returned to the above ground pool. The solar pool heaters can be installed on the roof of your house, shed or cabana, mounted to a rack, or simply placed on the ground.

Where can I put the Solar Bear system for my above-ground pool?

For the best result, anywhere that the panel will be in full sun for most of the day. The panel should face South if possible but west is next best. Lay it on grass, gravel, landscaping mulch or the like, or mount it on a platform, rack or deck. Mounting at a 20 to 45 degree angle with the ground will help maximize efficiency.

Do I need anything else?

You will need hose (a minimum of two 6’ sections) to connect to your pump and filter. If you are installing the panel far away from your equipment you will need longer hose.

Will it heat my above-ground swimming pool?

Of course! Each system produces up to 80,000 BTUs of heat per day. In general, this will heat a 24’ round above-ground pool up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit warmer during the swim season than it would otherwise be. A solar blanket (sold separately) will help hold in this heat at night or when it’s windy and can help the system heat even more. For larger above-ground swimming pools, we recommend you start with one system unless your pool is in the shade. It’s easy to add another Solar Bear later if you need it.

Is the Solar Bear hard to install?

Anyone can install it! The system can easily be installed in 30 minutes or less. A true do-it-yourself project.

Will the Solar Bear work with my equipment?

Absolutely! The FAFCO Solar Bear system is designed to work with any common above-ground swimming pool pump. This system will not work with inflatable type pools.
